Tucson is the only Father’s Day Council chapter in the U.S. whose fundraising efforts directly benefit a local community organization. We are proud of our partnership with the Steele Children’s Research Center at The University of Arizona and the dedicated physicians and scientists who are working hard to find new treatments—and someday a cure—for this dread disease.
Since the inception of the Fathers of the Year Awards in 1995, Father’s Day Council Tucson has raised more than $1.7 million to support research for type 1 diabetes which affects so many children in our community and around the world.
What Do We Stand For?
In an age when the traditional family unit is taking on renewed focus, Father's Day Council Tucson seeks to reinforce family values and enhance the role of fathers in our society by honoring men who have mastered the balancing act of career, fatherhood and civic involvement.
Who Are We?
The Father's Day Council Tucson advisory board is comprised of leading members of our community. Each year, we honor individuals whose achievements and values enhance the meaning and status of Father's Day.
What Do We Do?
Father's Day Council Tucson has a dual mission. The first is to identify and honor men who have not only proven to be extremely successful in their chosen field, but who also serve as outstanding role models in our community. The second, and equally important mission, is to raise funds to find new treatments and a cure for diabetes. Proceeds from this year's event will benefit type 1 diabetes, formerly known as juvenile diabetes, research at the Steele Children's Research Center at The University of Arizona. Over the last 13 years, Father's Day Council Tucson has raised $1.7 million for research in type 1 diabetes.
